1. When will I know if I am accepted?

Applicants who submit their application by the October 1st President's Scholarship Program (PSP) priority date, will receive notifications in the first week of November. Applicants who apply between October 2nd and the PSP deadline, November 1st, will receive notifications in mid-December. All other applicants who apply by the January 15th Freshman application deadline will receive notifications in mid-March.

2. What are the general requirements for admission to Georgia Tech?

We look at multiple areas of an applicant's background in making our admission decisions - academic record/GPA, SAT/ACT scores, leadership activities and the application essay. These criteria are all critical to being competitive for admission to Georgia Tech. Please visit www.admission.gatech.edu/freshman for more information on our review process.

3. What is your policy on AP/IB Scores?

Georgia Tech accepts and awards course credit for many forms of Advanced Placement. For a complete list of exams and further information, please visit www.admiss.gatech.edu/ap.

4. What are Tech's application deadlines?

Applications for Freshman Admission are available in mid-August and can be found at www.apply.gatech.edu. In order to be eligible for the President's Scholarship, our premier merit-based scholarship, you must apply for admission by October 31st. Otherwise, our final deadline for freshman admission applications is January 15th. Please visit our deadlines pages for more information on freshman, transfer, and special application deadlines.

5. Does Georgia Tech have an Early Action/Early Decision deadline?

Georgia Tech does not have any type of Early Action or Early Decision process. We offer an early notification process, which is a non-binding process that allows students to hear back about their admission decision earlier. Our early notification deadline is October 1. The deadline for the President's Scholarship Program is November 1, and January 15 is our regular decision deadline.

6. What is the minimum required GPA and SAT/ACT score for admission?

With a competitive admission process, Georgia Tech does not have "minimum" requirements for admission; rather, admission decisions are made based on how an applicant compares to the overall pool of applicants. Most students who are ultimately competitive for admission will have at least a B average and take challenging courses at their high school. 7. Can I make an appointment to interview with a counselor?

Georgia Tech does not include personal interviews as part of the admission process. We do, however, encourage you to learn more about Tech by attending one of our weekly information sessions and campus tours. 8. How do I register for classes?

During Freshman Orientation (FASET) you will be instructed in all the different things you need to know including course registration and academic advising. The Georgia Tech Course Catalog and schedule of classes may be found online at https://oscar.gatech.edu .

9. What happens if I am not selected as a semi-finalist for President's Scholarship?

It is important to know that the President's Scholarship process is a separate process from your admission decision. Students who are not selected to proceed in the President's Scholarship process will remain in the pool of applicants for admission. The majority of our admission decisions will be made after our final deadline for applications (January 15th). Therefore, most decisions are sent by mail in late February to the middle of March. www.psp.gatech.edu .

10. When is the deadline to submit SAT or ACT scores?

The SAT or ACT should be scheduled in the spring of the junior year and may be taken again through the December test date of the senior year. December scores will not be considered for the President's Scholarship competition. January test results may not meet the admission application deadline. Official test scores must be sent electronically directly to Georgia Tech from the testing agency; we will not accept scores submitted on transcripts or from personal score reports. Georgia Tech's code for the SAT is 5248. For the ACT our code is 0818.

11. What is available for students to do on campus?

Whether you enjoy student government, whitewater rafting, debating, religious fellowship, or just socializing with others who share your interest, there is something for everyone at Georgia Tech. There are more than 300 student groups and clubs for students ranging from departmental societies, intramural and club sports teams, cultural/diversity organizations, fraternities and sororities, and student publications and media. 12. How can I receive more information about Tech?

Our main admission website (www.admiss.gatech.edu) offers several ways to gather all the information you need about Georgia Tech. There is a "Request Information" link in the main navigation menu on the left hand side. 13. What are Georgia Tech's school code numbers for the SAT and ACT?

Georgia Tech's school doe code for the SAT is 5248 and for the ACT is 0818.

14. Are International students eligible for Financial Aid?

International students are not eligible for federal or state financial aid programs. The Institute does, however, offer guidance to international undergraduate students who experience financial constraints. Please contact the Office of International Education (www.oie.gatech.edu) for more information. If your citizenship status should change at anytime while you are in the process of applying or attending GT, the Institute will re-evaluate your financial aid status.

15. Is the TOEFL exam required for any applicant?

The TOEFL exam is not required to be considered for admission.

16. Does Tech offer Financial Aid?

Georgia Tech offers both need and merit based aid to students through grants, scholarships and loans. The deadline for both the FAFSA and the Georgia Tech Financial Aid Form is March 1. 17. Is on-campus housing available at Georgia Tech?

Georgia Tech's Department of Housing offers a comprehensive program to meet students' various needs. Whether you are beginning your collegiate experience or continuing your education, by living on campus, you not only have the convenience of living close to classes, but you also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of programs and activities. 18. What is your student-faculty ratio?

The student-faculty ratio varies by major and class standing; however, the most common class size is 26 to 33 students.

19. What type of health insurance does Georgia Tech offer?

20. Can I defer my enrollment term?

Per policy, Georgia Tech does not "defer" admission for students as an offer of admission is only valid for the term for which the student applied. Should you decide not to enroll in that term, you may request to re-open your file for a future term (up to one year from the term of original application) without having to re-apply. However, you should be aware that once a student has graduated from high school and enrolls in any college-level course work, that student must follow our transfer admission process (www.transfer.gatech.edu) and meet those requirements to be considered for admission.

21. Does Georgia Tech offer any special summer programs?

The Office of Admission hosts several campus visitation programs throughout the year. For more information visit our website www.visits.gatech.edu/. Summer programs are often hosted by specific academic departments on campus, as well as through the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics and Computing (CEISMC). 22. How can I withdraw or cancel an application?

If you wish to cancel your application for consideration, please complete our online form: www.admiss.gatech.edu/cancel or contact our office if you have questions at 404.894.4154.

23. How do I re-apply to Tech after already being enrolled?

Because you had been previously enrolled at Tech, you would need to go through the re-admission process. Please contact the Registrar's Office ( www.registrar.gatech.edu or 404-894-4150) for further information.

24. What is the Academic Common Market?

The Academic Common Market is an interstate agreement for sharing educational programs and facilities that allows students to participate in selected programs not offered in their home states without having to pay out-of-state tuition charges. 25. How can I change my major?

Any requests to change information in your file should be submitted in writing. Along with the request, please be sure to include your full name, date of birth, Social Security Number or GT ID number (if available), and signature. This information may be sent by mail or faxed to 404.894.9511.

26. What are the requirements to be considered a resident?

Classification of in-state, out-of-state, and international students for tuition payment purposes is determined by the Office of the Registrar, as governed by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. 27. What are the options for attending the GT Savannah campus?

The Georgia Tech Savannah - Armstrong Partnership Program is a unique opportunity for Freshman to obtain dual degrees at Georgia Tech and Armstrong Atlantic State University. Please visits www.admission.gatech.edu/armstrong for more information on this program.

Georgia Tech Savannah (GTS) is also available for transfer students. There are five majors available at GTS: Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering. Students may apply for direct transfer or as part of a GTREP partnership. Direct transfer applicants must meet the exact same requirements as transfer applicants to the Atlanta campus (www.transfer.gatech.edu) . For both direct and GTREP transfers, there is a high probability of the need for cross-enrollment at one of our GTREP partner schools (Armstrong Atlantic State University, Georgia Southern University, Savannah State University) for completion of general education and non-major degree requirements.

28. Does Georgia Tech require letters of recommendation?

Within our regular admission process, we do not require or review letters of recommendation. If you are selected as a President's Scholar Semifinalist, you will be asked to submit recommendations for further consideration. However, until you are notified, it is not necessary to mail or request letters to be sent to our office.
